Greg Paulus Jokes About Tim Tebow, Jimmy Clausen

After a mediocre four-year basketball career at Duke, Greg Paulus, in no rush to get a regular 9-to-5, spent last season as Syracuse University's quarterback. It's not as ridiculous as it sounds; Paulus was a high school All-American with a scholarship offers to Division I schools, including Notre Dame.

Now he's trying to keep the dream alive. Last week Paulus took part in Syracuse's pro day, and Tuesday he appeared on The Dan Patrick Show to talk about his future, Tim Tebow's awesomeness and Jimmy Clausen's ass-kick-ability (transcript via The Sporting Blog):
Patrick: Who will be a better pro quarterback, you or Tim Tebow?

Paulus: [Laughs] I've got to take myself. I believe in myself and you could throw me ... I think I'd take myself against a lot of guys.

Patrick: Would you take yourself over Jimmy Clausen?

Paulus: [Laughs] I like myself.

Patrick: Are you better than Bradford?

Paulus: I've got to keep getting some experience and then I can start talking a little football.

...

Patrick: Could you beat up Jimmy Clausen?

Paulus: [Laughs] Is this a fight? Is this a backyard fight?

Patrick: Yeah, if it was a fight to start.

Paulus: I would cheat and find a way to win.

Patrick: What about Tebow?

Paulus: Uh, you know, Tebow is a big guy.
Tebow has his detractors, but that's primarily a function of the media's deification of his college career. On the other hand, the vitriol directed at Clausen and Paulus is mostly their doing. Which is why a Jimmy-Greg throwdown would be a win-win for everybody.
