Jim CalhounConnecticut coach Jim Calhoun will remain on the Huskies sideline through 2014 after agreeing to an extension with the school, according to an Internet report.

The 67-year-old coach confirmed he and the school agreed on a four-year extension with the school to ESPN's Andy Katz, through the coach's agent. According to the report, Calhoun is expected to sign the contract within the next few weeks.

"Let me officially put to rest the speculation about my future at UConn," Calhoun said in a prepared statement provided to ESPN.com Thursday night. "We are close to finalizing a new contract and I plan on continuing as the head coach of the men's basketball team for several more years."

No financial terms were disclosed.

Calhoun has led the Huskies to two national championships and three Final Fours in 24 seasons, but his future remained uncertain for much of the season. Calhoun missed seven games earlier this year due to undisclosed medical reasons and has fought several other health issues, beating cancer three times and recovering from a bicycle crash in the offseason.

The Huskies finished 17-15 and lost to St. John's in the opening round of the Big East tournament. The Huskies will miss the NCAA tournament after reaching the Final Four last season.
