PHOENIX -- Phil Jackson touched on a variety of interesting topics during his pregame session with the media in Phoenix on Friday. Some of the highlights:

- On whether or not he was surprised that the Suns held on to Amar'e Stoudemire at the trade deadline (despite all of the rumors), Jackson said he wasn't. He explained that you have to use "great trepidation" when considering trading an All-Star caliber player like Stoudemire.

- Jackson talked about playing at the Suns' pace, and said that it's "alluring" for players to get into that, especially the younger ones. But he insisted that the starting unit would be slower and more deliberate in their attack.

- The Suns have had five days off coming into their meeting with the Lakers, but Jackson doesn't necessarily see that as an advantage. He said that two or three days was an advantage, but longer than that and it's tough to keep the team as sharp as you'd like, because it's tough to duplicate the speed of a game over multiple practices.

- Sasha Vujacic may play a little tonight, but only if he's ready to run through some screens. When Jackson asked Vujacic this, Sasha hesitated before giving him the green light, so Phil said he received a "yellow light" instead.

- Jackson disagreed with Kobe Bryant's assessment that the team's win over Toronto was "garbage." The coach liked that the turnovers were limited, and called it a good win since the team was able to overcome the early deficit.
