Roach Talks Strategy: Pacquiao Will Go to Clottey's Body

Joshua Clottey has never been knocked out in 39 professional fights, but Manny Pacquiao's trainer, Freddie Roach, says Pacquiao will be the first to do it on Saturday night.

And Roach says that Pacquiao's strategy will be to knock Clottey out not by testing Clottey's chin but by going to Clottey's body.

"Manny will never predict a knockout. I will, though," Roach said. "I do think we will stop Clottey. I've watched some tapes of him and I think the game plan we have, we will break him down. He does cover his face, that shell, very well, but he doesn't protect his body. Guys with good chins, you can test them downstairs sometimes, and they're not as great to the body. We can really hit the body with this guy. I'm giving you half my game plan away, but it's not a secret -- Clottey can't do anything about it."

It's a little bit surprising that Roach would give that much of his game plan away, and it might be an indication that Pacquiao's camp is getting overconfident.

Then again, Roach has predicted that Pacquiao would stop Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya and David Diaz. He was right with all of those predictions, so maybe Roach isn't overconfident, he's just smart.
