WBO junior welterweight (140 pounds) champion, Tim Bradley, of Palm Springs, Calif., will participate in a non-title, over the division weight limit match up opposite Luis Carlos Abregu, of Salta, Salta, Argentina, on HBO as part of a deal worked out with the network, Bradley's promoter, Gary Shaw, told FanHouse.com on Friday.

Bradley, who graces the April, 2010 cover of The Ring Magazine, is considered the sport's top 140-pounder with a record of 25-0, with 11 knockouts in a deep weight class that includes 23-year-old, southpaw, IBF and WBC titlist Devon Alexander (20-0, 13 KOs), of, St. Louis, Mo., and, England's 23-year-old WBA king, Amir Khan (22-1, 16 KOs).

ESPN.com's Dan Rafael first reported the move

Alexander recently dethroned 29-year-old, Juan Urango (22-3-1, 17 KOs) as IBF champ with an eighth-round knockout, and Khan will defend his crown against New York's 29-year-old Paulie Malignaggi (27-3, five KOs) on May 15 at New York's Madison Square Garden.

"Showtime did a great job, and we thank them for it, but all of the other guys at 140 pounds are over there at HBO. We'll fight [Marcos Rene] Maidana, Victor Ortiz, or any of those guys," said Bradley's manager, Cameron Dunkin.

"This fight with Abregu will show that Bradley's a tough kid who can fight at 147 pounds if he needs to," said Dunkin. "We'd love to fight Alexander, but as long as we were on Showtime, Bradley was on the outside looking in. Now, with it being HBO, people will begin to demand those types of fights."

Nicknamed "The Desert Storm," Bradley is coming off of December's one-sided, 12-round unanimous decision victory over previously unbeaten Lamont Peterson (27-1, 13 KOs), of Washington, D.C., during which Bradley lost probably one round.

In the 27-year-old Abregu, Bradley is meeting a fighter with a record of 29-0 that includes 23 knockouts who has fought mostly as a welterweight.

Shaw said Bradley had been fighting on Showtime, which he thanked for the exposure, but that "We had to walk across the street because Showtime couldn't commit to dates and dollars."

Bradley hopes to be in the mix with Alexander, Khan, and others in the 140-pound division.

In action on March 27 will be 26-year-old, Argentinian WBA interim junior welterweight (140 pounds) champion, Marcos Rene Maidana (27-1, 26 KOs), defending his belt aginst 25-year-old Victor Cayo (24-0, 16 KOs), of the Dominican Republic.

The Khan-Malignaggi undercard will feature 23-year-old southpaw, 140-pound contender, Victor Ortiz (26-2-1, 21 KOs), against 37-year-old former world champ, Nate Campbell (33-5-1, 25 KOs).
