The Jets made it very clear that they wanted LaDainian Tomlinson in their backfield next season. Mission accomplished.
According to multiple reports, Tomlinson agreed Sunday to a two-year deal with the Jets. Financial details were not immediately available.
Tomlinson met with the Jets on Friday, about 24 hours after Minnesota gave him its best recruiting pitch. Vikings coach Brad Childress even said that he hoped Tomlinson would be "1a" at the RB position alongside Adrian Peterson.
But L.T. opted to pass on that offer to join Rex Ryan's Jets. New York was in need of running back depth after releasing Thomas Jones, who signed with Kansas City last week.
While Tomlinson is no longer the superstar he once was, he should provide a nice second option in New York's rushing attack. He'll be paired with Shonn Greene, who burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2009 and was instrumental in the Jets' playoff run.
