Spencer HavnerSpencer Havner, a backup tight end with the Packers, is facing DUI charges after a Saturday morning accident that left him with a fractured scapula, lacerations on his head and left arm, and multiple abrasions.

According to The Union in Grass Valley, Calif., Havner wrecked his motorcycle at approximately 2:45 a.m. Saturday. He was not wearing a helmet.

Havner was taken to the hospital for treatment, where he was arrested, the California Highway Patrol told The Union.

Havner is a native of Grass Valley. He was undrafted in 2006 out of UCLA before joining the Packers' practice squad. He made his debut in 2008, then played in all 16 Green Bay games last season, catching seven passes for 112 yards and four touchdowns.

His career highlight came during last year's wild-card playoff round when he caught an 11-yard touchdown pass late in the fourth quarter, helping the Packers tie the Cardinals in their epic game. Green Bay eventually lost in overtime, 51-45.

The accident brings back memories of a similar accident involving Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger in 2006. Roethlisberger was seriously injured during an offseason accident when he was thrown from his motorcycle -- like Havner, he was not wearing a helmet. Roethlisberger cracked his head on a car windshield and required seven hours of surgery to repair a broken jaw and multiple facial injuries.
