Another Billboard Mystery: Remember Reagan?

(March 16) -- This time, it's partisan. About a month after a billboard of former President George W. Bush with the question "Miss Me Yet?" was spotted beside a Minnesota highway, a similarly mysterious billboard has appeared in the state.

This one features Ronald Reagan, and, unlike the original billboard, the message is unmistakably conservative: "Remember Real Hope and Change?" the sign asks, openly mocking President Barack Obama's campaign slogan.

Conservative blogger Ed Morrissey broke the story at Hot Air this morning. "This ad recalls a president that never got his due in Minnesota," Morrissey writes, noting that Reagan lost the state in both elections.

A billboard featuring former President Ronald Reagan appears along Interstate 94 near Albertville, Minn. An undisclosed group paid for it.

While the businessmen behind the "Miss Me Yet?" billboard said they were "just looking to pass on something we thought was extremely funny," it's unclear who's behind the billboard that touts Reagan as the real McCoy of change.

Bob Schwartz, vice president of Franklin Outdoor Advertising, told AOL News that an "undisclosed group of private individuals" paid for the ad, which went up in the last couple of weeks.

"Ads like these kind of come out of left field," Schwartz said.

That may be, but this ode to the Gipper is undoubtedly coming from the right.

Albertville, where the billboard is located, is in the congressional district of Rep. Michele Bachmann, a well-known fan of the Tea Party movement. And Frances Martel of Mediaite predicts "it will take about four days for the patrons to take a victory lap with the 'Fox and Friends.'"
