Sean Jones, a five-year NFL veteran and a starter for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2009, has signed a two-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tampa radio station WDAE first reported the move Tuesday.

Jones spent the first four years of his career with the Cleveland Browns, intercepting 14 passes in his three years as a starter. In his first season as a starter, Jones tallied 111 total tackles, five interceptions and a sack for the Browns in 2007.

Jones moved on to Philadelphia in 2009, playing 14 games while racking up 61 total tackles, two interceptions and a sack. He also recovered two fumbles for the Eagles last year.

With the Buccanneers, Jones will likely compete for the strong safety job with incumbent Sabby Piscitelli, a battle that Jones should win. Piscitelli had 80 total tackles in 2009, as well as two interceptions. He will probably back up both Jones and starting free safety Tanard Jackson in 2010.
