South Florida junior guard Dominique Jones apparently won't return for his senior year next season. And will he?A day after USF's 58-57 loss to N.C. State in an NIT first-round game Tuesday, Jones wrote on his Facebook page: "i should have kept it but i aint tripping...its time to make money now."
However, on Wednesday afternoon, Jones released a statement through the school that said he has "not made a decision on going to the NBA or returning to USF."
Jones' "should have kept it" reference on his Facebook page was about USF's final possession against N.C. State. With eight seconds remaining, he passed to Chris Howard, who passed to Gus Gilchrist. Gilchrist's shot at the buzzer was blocked.
When asked by reporters after the loss if he was returning for his senior year, Jones replied, "No comment."
Wednesday, Jones said in statement: "At this time I plan on gathering information on my status and will likely test the waters to further determine my positioning within the draft.
"In the near future I hope to have a clearer picture of what my plans will be. My goal to play in the NBA as well as my goal to earn a college degree are both important to me. My dad and my coach will be help me in this process."
The 6-foot-4 Jones earned All-Big East honors this season, averaging 21.4 points and 6.1 rebounds. He had a school record 46 points, along with 10 rebounds and eight assists, in a 109-105 overtime victory against Providence on Jan. 23.
