Abner Mares, Yonnhy Perez Ready to Fight

Mexican Olympian, Abner Mares (19-0, 12 KOs), will challenge Colombian Yonnhy Perez (20-0, 14 KOs) in defense of the latter's IBF bantamweight (118 pounds) title on May 22 on the Staples Center undercard of the fourth match up between featherweights (126 pounds) Israel Vazquez and Rafael Marquez, the latter of whom trails the series, 2-1.

Following a recent press conference, FanHouse spoke to the 24-year-old Mares (pictured at right, on the left, with Perez), who will face 34-year-old Colombian, Felipe Almanza (17-15-4, eight KOs) on March 25.

FanHouse also spoke to Perez, and Oscar de La Hoya, president of Golden Boy Promotions..
