Another Buzzer Beater for Red Wings

Think the Red Wings aren't determined to keep their playoff streak alive? Detroit has eked out every fraction of a second the past two nights to try to stay ahead of Calgary.

Friday night, it was Brian Rafalski's last-second shot in front of the goal at Edmonton that sent the game into overtime; the Wings lost in a shootout, but still gained a much-needed point. The puck crossed the line just as time was expiring, and it took a review to verify the goal.

Saturday night, at Vancouver, Henrik Zetterberg, knowing defenseman Christian Erhoff was without a stick, almost casually skated from the left side toward the middle and unloaded on a backhand with 3 seconds, 2 seconds, 1 second remaining; his shot went past Roberto Luongo with .3 of a second left in overtime. That's two big points for Detroit.

There was more fun with the clock for the Red Wings earlier in the game: Todd Bertuzzi and Pavel Datsyuk scored goals five seconds apart in the second period, with Datsyuk's coming on a 45-foot wrist shot off the faceoff.

Detroit is two points up on Calgary with 11 games to play; the Red Wings have made 18 consecutive playoff appearances, the longest current run in North American pro sports.
