Adios to a Miserably Wet March

(April 1) -- March probably couldn't have ended soon enough for residents of the Northeast, which got hit by two major rainstorms in the span of just a few weeks -- including one that finally blew out of the area Wednesday. Both triggered floods that wreaked havoc on homes and businesses.

Among the hardest-hit places was Rhode Island, which is now coping with its worst flooding in 200 years. Throughout the region, the water has overwhelmed roads, bridges and sewage systems.

The chart below shows how much moisture fell in March in major cities in the region -- and how far from average the month was.
