Cleveland Browns defensive tackle Shaun Rogers was arrested at Cleveland Hopkins Airport on Thursday with a loaded gun, according to sources.Details are sketchy, but Rogers apparently had the gun in his bag and he was stopped shortly after noon while going through security. He was at the airport to fly home to Texas from the team's offseason conditioning program.
The story was first reported in Cleveland by WTAM radio.
The arrest and decision to carry the gun not only flies in the face of strict airport security, it also comes on the heels of the season-long suspension of Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas for bringing unloaded guns into the team's locker room.
"We are aware of what transpired with Shaun Rogers," Browns president Mike Holmgren said in a statement. "We will continue to gather additional information, and until the legal process has taken its course, we will reserve any further comment."
Rogers could be charged with a felony count of carrying a concealed weapon. He apparently told police he forgot the gun was in his bag.
