Considering the way Boston has struggled to score goals this season, the Carolina Hurricanes had to like the idea of a power play.

A man advantage that started late in the first on a Matt Hunwick penalty turned disastrous at the start of the second for the Hurricanes, however, and it ended with an NHL record for the Boston Bruins.

Boston scored a league-record three shorthanded goals in that one Carolina power play, also setting a record for the fastest three shorthanded goals, and held on to win 4-2 to clinch an Eastern Conference playoff spot.

Daniel Paille started the surge, skating all the way around the back of the Carolina net, turning to his forehand, and wristing one past Cam Ward. 49 seconds later, Blake Wheeler one-timed a shot past Ward to make it 2-0. 15 seconds later, it was Steve Begin burying the record-breaker.

Enjoy the video, complete with Jack Edwards going as out of his mind as you might expect Jack Edwards to go for such a moment.

The three shorties in one power play match Boston's total for the entire season.
