Brandon MarshallBrandon Marshall signed a one-year, $2.512 million tender Tuesday with the Denver Broncos, according to The Denver Post, a move many perceive as a precursor to a trade.

By signing the tender, the receiver is no longer a restricted free agent and again property of the Broncos, who are now free to trade him. The Denver Post speculated that Marshall may have signed the tender because he had assurances that the Broncos are working on a deal.

If Marshall is traded, it would come in the wake of a deal involving Santonio Holmes, who was dealt from the Pittsburgh Steelers to the New York Jets for just a fifth-round pick. Many figure that discount price for Holmes could skew Marshall's value.

Marshall, 26, is one of the league's most prolific receivers, though he has a penchant for rubbing coaches and teammates the wrong way.

According to ESPN's Adam Shefter, the lone team Marshall visited during his restricted free agency was Seattle, which backed off when it was determined that signing the receiver would cost a first-round pick -- which would have been the sixth overall selection in the draft taking place April 22-24.

However, ESPN said that the Seahawks -- among other teams -- remain interested in Marshall.
