Dhani Jones Thinks Rich Rodriguez Is 'Terrible'
But Jones is not proud of the current state of the Michigan football program. At all.
In an appearance Tuesday on ESPN's Jim Rome is Burning, Jones went off on Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez, ripping him for having taken over a proud program and, at least in Jones' view, run it into the ground.
"I'm not cool with him," Jones said of Rodriguez. "I'm at my wits end right now. I mean, you can't come in and explain that you're going to do all this, and then your first year? Terrible. Second year? Alright -- but then terrible. You have to be able to change something if you're really going to make a statement. You have to do it within the first two years, and this is his third."
This isn't the first time Jones has had harsh things to say for Rodriguez; in a previous interview with Jim Rome he also said he was dismayed by what Rodriguez has done with the Michigan program.
Braylon Edwards is among a number of other players who went to Michigan when Rodriguez's predecessor, Lloyd Carr, was the head coach, and have a problem with Rodriguez. And it's easy to see why: In two seasons, Rodriguez has gone 3-9 and 5-7. In Carr's worst season Michigan went 7-5.
Jones also offered to talk to Rodriguez, saying, "I need to have a sit down with him." My guess is that Rodriguez will decline that invitation.
