One of the many crushing hits -- and there were a number of them -- during Friday's Penguins-Senators game came from Ottawa defenseman Andy Sutton late in the first period. As Penguins defenseman Jordan Leopold was carrying the puck through the neutral zone and along the boards, Sutton lined him up and delivered a hit that appeared to knock Leopold out before he even hit the ice.

As you might expect, Leopold did not return to the game and his status for Game 3 on Sunday is still unknown as of this time. There was no penalty called on the play, and while it looks like the type of play that will result in a spirited debate as to the legality of the hit, TSN's Bob McKenzie has already said that it has been deemed clean, and that there will be no supplemental punishment.

Below, Sutton was asked about the hit after the game, with the atmosphere being tense to say the least.

This isn't the first time Sutton has drawn the ire of the Penguins, as he received a two-game suspension for a hit on Pascal Dupuis earlier this season when he was still playing for the Islanders.
