Release Date Set for President George W. Bush's Memoir

(April 26) -- Former President George W. Bush will open up about the biggest decisions of his life -- including going to war in Iraq and quitting drinking -- with the release of his memoir, "Decision Points," on Nov. 9.

Crown Publishers, a subsidiary of Random House, unveiled new details about Bush's book in a press release that includes the memoir's book jacket and a preview of the book's "ground-breaking" format. Instead of sharing a traditional account of his life and presidency, Bush's memoir "will be centered on the 14 most critical and historic decisions" of his life.

George W. Bush's first post-White House memoir is to be published Nov. 9.

"President Bush brings readers inside the Texas Governor's Mansion on the night of the hotly contested 2000 election; aboard Air Force One on 9/11 in the gripping hours after America's most devastating attack since Pearl Harbor; inside the Situation Room in the moments before launching the war in Iraq," Crown wrote.

Bush will also include accounts of the decisions he made during Hurricane Katrina and the financial crisis.

The publication of "Decision Points" will mark the former commander-in-chief's first substantial reflections on his presidency since leaving office last year.

"President Bush has given virtually no interviews or public speeches about his presidency," Crown said. "Instead, he has spent almost every day writing 'Decision Points.' "

The book will be sold for $35. Its jacket shows a contemplative Bush in a crisp blue suit walking through the White House's Rose Garden Colonnade.

Former first lady Laura Bush will release her memoir, "Spoken From the Heart," May 4.
