Tiger Woods Misses Cut at Quail Hollow

Tiger Woods missed the cut for the Quail Hollow Championship after shooting 9-over 153 on an agonizing two rounds in Charlotte. This is the first time the world No. 1 has missed a cut at a non-major in 4 1/2 years.

The last time Woods missed a cut was at Turnberry for the 2009 British Open. His total 145 missed the cut by just a stroke and marked the first time he hadn't made the cut since the U.S. Open in 2006 -- his first tournament back since the passing of his father.

Woods appeared to be off to a good start at Quail Hollow. He started on the back nine and birdied 10 on his first hole out, but things quickly went downhill from there.

A bogey on 12 set him back even and he found the water on both 17 and 18. Despite a late rally with birdies on 2, 5 and 8, he finished the day two-over for a rough opening-round 74.

The second round was even worse. Again on Friday he opened with a birdie only to have things take a serious turn for the worse. Woods barely managed to stay even on the front nine after bogeying three in a four-hole stretch.

The back nine got ugly. Following his par on nine, Woods bogeyed three straight on 10, 11, 12 and had back-to-back double bogeys on 14 and 15 before parring the final three holes.
