University of Akron defensive linebacker Shawn Lemon spent last week contemplating whether to transfer because, in his words, he and head coach Rob Ianello "weren't seeing eye to eye." He feared the coach would play underclassmen over seniors as part of a rebuilding effort.

Lemon's decision got a lot easier when Ianello accidentally sent him a text message intended for athletic director Tom Wistrcill.

Via Ohio.com:
While reconsidering his decision... Lemon received an inadvertent text message from Ianello, intended for ... Wistrcill. The message suggested that Lemon had spoke about transferring before, and he may be doing it to seek attention.

That was apparently the last straw for Lemon, who is putting together his highlight tapes and has prepared his transfer documents. He is looking at William & Mary, Appalachian State and New Mexico as potential destinations for his last year of eligibility.
I suppose you could argue that this is the latest example of why the uninitiated shouldn't be allowed to use technology, but maybe this was Ianello's ploy to grease the wheels on a youth movement. Or perhaps it was just serendipity. Either way, it sounds like Lemon and his 24 sacks and three sacks are leaving.
