The Pittsburgh Pirates, for the time being, have proven to be a bit better than I gave them credit for a couple of weeks ago. Since being embarrassed in unspeakable ways by the Milwaukee the Brewers, the Bucs have come back to win six of their past nine, just completed a three-game sweep of the Chicago Cubs and are now only two games under .500.

Progress, baby! Progress.

Of course, even in victory, they still give us reason to laugh.

Take, for example, left fielder Lastings Milledge as he celebrates what he thought was his first home run of the season -- a grand slam! -- during Pittsburgh's 11-1 drubbing of Chicago on Thursday night. After crushing a Jeff Gray pitch deep into PNC Park's vast left field, he pumped his first as he rounded first and broke into his home run trot, all while fireworks were set off.

There was just one problem.

It wasn't a home run. No. It actually hit the top of the left field wall, stayed in the field of play, and Milledge, still in his jog, was tagged out between second and third base.

You can see the video by clicking right here. And here's Milledge speaking to the media about what he called, "the most exciting double in PNC history." I certainly can't disagree with that.
