Last week, the Cavaliers dropped the final three games of their playoff series with the Celtics, ending their title hopes, and possibly LeBron James' tenure in Cleveland. On Friday, the sports blog terezowens.com posted a report that James' mother Gloria was allegedly sleeping with LeBron's teammate Delonte West.
Moreover, the blog stated LeBron allegedly learned of the news prior to Game 4 of the Cavs-Celts series, and three consecutive losses later, Cleveland's 2010 season was in the books. Tuesday, TMZ reported that James' attorney sent terezowens.com a cease and desist e-mail:
TMZ obtained a copy of the e-mail sent to terezowens.com... In the e-mail, Frederick Nance -- attorney for LeBron and Gloria -- says the report is "categorically false and per se defamatory." Nance adds, "No thinking person could possibly believe such rubbish." ...TMZ also contacted James family spokesman Keith Estabrook who only offered a "I will not dignify this with a comment."
The guys at terezowens tell us, "We think it's a little fishy that they waited almost 4 days to fire this off." They say they stand by their source, and they're consulting with their lawyers. The story is still up on their site ... for now.
