Bill RomanowskiHere's what is happening around the National Football League on Friday, May 21, 2010:

• File this one under the pot calling the kettle black:

Former linebacker and admitted steroid user Bill Romanowski went on SIRIUS radio Friday and ripped Texans LB Brian Cushing for tiptoeing around his positive hCG test, nationalfootballpost.com reported.

"Now, as far as Brian Cushing, here's the deal: The only way you can get that substance that he took, hCG, in your body is to inject it, okay?" Romanowski (pictured right) said. "So let's get that clear. So his sob story on TV was, I'm just going to say, was a total lie, okay? ... Do you think when he was getting injected in his ass that he didn't know what was going on? Well, bullcrap. Let's get real. Be honest about it, Brian."

Romo seems to be making the rounds. Earlier in the week, he praised Canadian doctor Anthony Galea -- the man charged with providing HGH and other drugs to NFL players -- as "a pioneer ... the best of the best of the best,'' when it comes to helping athletes recover from injury.

• A judge in Minnesota ruled that he will stay the suspensions on Minnesota Vikings defensive tackles Kevin Williams and Pat Williams if they filed a planned appeal of their league bans in the StarCaps case, the Associated Press reported. An attorney for the pair told the AP he would file the appeal later Friday.

Transaction Wire

• The Patriots claimed former Rutgers QB Mike Teel off waivers and released QB Jeff Rowe and TE Robbie Agnone, the Boston Herald reported. Teel was a sixth round pick by the Seahawks in 2009, but did not appear in a game.

• The Vikings signed free-agent WR Logan Payne, a University of Minnesota product. Payne, 25, played for Seattle in 2008 after making the team as an undrafted rookie. He injured his knee in Week 2 that season, though, then bounced from Seattle to Detroit to Kansas City over the next year-plus.

Injury Ward

• Giants tight end Kevin Boss will undergo an arthroscopic procedure on his right ankle Monday, NJ.com reported. Boss will have dead or infected tissue removed and will be out for 4-6 weeks. The website also reported that backup Giants offensive lineman Kevin Boothe will be sidelined for four months after tearing a pectoral muscle earlier in the week.

• Chicago is hopeful that tight end Brandon Manumaleuna will be ready for training camp later this summer, but Manumaleuna is sitting out the team's OTA after arthroscopic knee surgery.

"Don't have a timetable per se," coach Lovie Smith told the Chicago Tribune. "Just a little minor scope with him, hopefully we can get some of those guys, (receiver) Earl Bennett, players like that should be back before long."

• Jets center Nick Mangold (@nickmangold): "Having a cookout with the fam tonight at Casa de Mangold that would make PETA cry."
