Five years ago, Schwartz would be an afterthought in this draft. He'd be hearing scouts panning his prospects because he's too small. He can't take a hit.

Whatever.

Schwartz led the USHL -- typically comprised of college-age players -- in scoring this season, playing for the Tri-City Storm. He will play with older brother Rylan at Colorado College starting in the fall of 2010, and that's the perfect college program for his style of play.

The Tigers play on a huge Olympic-size sheet of ice in Colorado Springs, and their game tends to be fast-paced and very offensively-tilted. Schwartz is a great fit there, because he can focus more on developing a bit more strength to help him in the pros, and he doesn't have to worry about taking a lot of open ice hits.

When Schwartz is at his best, he's using his speed and creativity to set up the offense. He won't intimidate anyone physically, and he isn't likely to drop the gloves anytime soon. He's a highly creative, skillful player, and there's a place for him in the NHL.

After two or three years of college, a bigger and stronger Schwartz should be even more prepared for a shot at pro hockey.
