Hedo Turkoglu Wants Out of Toronto

Hedo Turkoglu had a rough first season in Toronto, failing to live up to the expectations which accompany a $53 million contract. The Raptors missed the playoffs, and Hedo was seen carousing in bars a little too often for the likes of the T-dot fan base. One incident in particular stood out: Hedo sat out of a game due to illness, but was seen at a club that very night.

That whole episode (which resulted in a fine and a one-game demotion from the team) has apparently left a bad enough taste in Turkoglu's mouth that the point-forward told Turkish TV hosts recently that he does not want to return to the Raptors. The Basketball Jones translated Hedo's entire appearance on a Turkish talk show, and Hedo spells out exactly what happened that infamous weekend and in the season overall. The takeaway is that Hedo's agent has talked to Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo, and Hedo does not want to be in a Raptor uniform next fall.

The problem is that Hedo became an albatross as soon as signed his deal in Toronto. A bad season and the looming new collective bargaining agreement make it even worse. Hedo makes $9.8 million next season, and a total of almost $44 million over the next four seasons. That's not easy to move.
