Our own Sam Amick reported back in April that Blazers' management, led by owner Paul Allen, were considering cutting general manager Kevin Pritchard loose a year before the end of his contract. Pritchard has lost his assistant GM Tom Penn toward the end of the regular season in an apparent power struggle between Allen's core business managers and Pritchard's basketball ops team.

Yahoo!'s Adrian Wojnarowski now reports the Blazers are indeed looking to replace Pritchard, and have hired a headhunting firm to find his replacement. Sources tell Woj the firm has been digging around Thunder GM Sam Presti and at least two other current NBA front office executives.

Needless to say, as Amick argued in April, pushing out a GM as successful as Pritchard in a war of egos is ridiculous, and the Blazers will almost assuredly be the worst off for it.
