Taylor Hall, Tyler Seguin Set to Visit Edmonton and Boston

PHILADELPHIA -- The order may not be locked in, but it appears top NHL prospects Taylor Hall and Tyler Seguin will be selected by the Edmonton Oilers and Boston Bruins -- and only the Oilers or the Bruins -- at the draft on June 25.

Attending Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final, Hall and Seguin each revealed to NHL FanHouse that they only have two visits to NHL cities over the next two weeks. Both will be visiting the Edmonton Oilers, who pick first, and the Boston Bruins, who draft second after acquiring the pick from Toronto in the Maple Leafs' trade for Phil Kessel.

"It's going to be fun to meet with both teams," Hall, the two-time Memorial Cup champion with the Ontario League's Windsor Spitfires said of the Oilers and Boston. "I don't see this as any kind of competition with Tyler to be the first pick or the second pick. All of our games have been played. My guess is the teams have made up their minds, or are at least very close. I plan on going in relaxed. I want to enjoy the visits and learn whatever I can about the Oilers and Bruins."

Since none of the NHL's other 28 franchises -- including teams drafting at the top like Columbus, the New York Islanders and the two Florida teams -- invited Hall and Seguin to their towns, this would appear to indicate that the rest of the league knows the Oilers and Bruins are not going the pass up the consensus top two prospects. Or that the price would be prohibitive.

Of course, the other teams had the opportunity to meet Hall and Seguin last week in Toronto at the NHL Draft Combine. However, those visits are limited to 12 minutes each and many players are dizzy from meeting up to 15 teams in one day. There's nothing like bringing a young player to your arena, showing him the facility and community, maybe even play a round a golf or go out for a Coke. A year ago at this time, the Islanders hosted John Tavares, Victor Hedman and Matt Duchene on Long Island. Although Hedman's hectic schedule limited his tour to four hours, Tavares and Duchene stayed overnight at the home of general manager Garth Snow on separate trips.

Like Hall, Seguin did not have a preference when and where he was drafted. More than anything, he seemed to be relishing the process.

"I just want to go to the team that wants me the most," said Seguin, a center with the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL. "There's a part of you that wants to go No. 1, but that isn't nearly as important to me anymore. These weeks have been exciting, taking part in the Draft Combine, getting to go the Stanley Cup Final. The anticipation is high, but the good news is we only have to wait until June 25. Taylor and I will know how this all ends in three weeks."

Like the rest of us, Hall and Seguin know they'll end up in Edmonton or Boston. It only comes down to who the Oilers select first.
