After the Olympics, the Chicago Blackhawks had a West Coast road trip. On one of their off days, the team paid a visit to the NBC studio where the Tonight Show With Jay Leno is taped. Since the Olympics -- which aired on NBC -- had recently completed with a classic gold medal hockey game between the United States and Canada, it was a chance for the show's producers to take advantage of the buzz from that game. They had Chicago stars Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Brent Seabrook and Duncan Keith take part in a bit involving their medals.
The players performed so well that they were invited back to the show this week, not long after Chicago won their first Stanley Cup in 49 years.
That first appearance aired March 16, one day before back-to-back games against Anaheim and Los Angeles.
Corny laughter aside, the team's cornerstone players -- Kane, Toews, Keith, and Seabrook -- were invited back for Monday's taping, and they brought a friend with them this time. No, we don't mean Kane's mullet, which may have its own reality show by the end of the summer at this rate. Instead, they brought the Stanley Cup.
While in Southern California, the Blackhawks also brought the Stanley Cup to ESPN's Los Angeles SportsCenter studio. Toews and Kane taped a segment with anchor Neil Everett.
