Philadelphia Flyers forward Danny Briere and his son Cameron, age 9, avoided serious injuries in a car collision on Thursday morning. The accident took place at approximately 12:30 a.m., north of the Pennsylvania state line on Interstate-81 by Binghamton, NY. Briere's black Range Rover swerved into another lane of traffic and hit a tractor-trailer. New York State Police Sgt. Steven Barlow reported that Briere was a bit drowsy before colliding with the tractor-trailer.
Both Briere and his son were taken to a Binghamton hospital and were released after being treated with minor injuries. Danny Briere suffered an arm injury, while Cameron Briere complained of pain in his neck. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
The star center for the Flyers was the 2007 All-Star Game MVP and amassed 53 points for the team this year. He also led the team in playoff scoring with 30 points in their Stanley Cup run.
