It was almost a year ago to the day that reports emerged that Martina Navratilova was being sued by her former partner Toni Layton. And now, a decade after the two met and were unofficially wed in a New Hampshire ceremony, the tennis legend has settled with her ex-lover for an estimated $3 million, according to the New York Post.
The settlement comes after a protracted legal battle that included Layton threatening to reveal Navratilova's secrets.
Layton, who left her husband, Jeffrey Lambert, for Navratilova, had sued, claiming the 18-time Grand Slam singles winner abruptly dumped her after eight years and changed the locks on their Florida home.
After a two-year battle the warring pair--who were fighting over money, four homes, several cars, a boat, jewelry, a Florida animal sanctuary, art, pets and even a set of guns -- have quietly settled out of court.
In 1991, Navratilova broke up with Judy Nelson after an eight-year relationship and reportedly paid her $3.5 million. Now 53 and battling breast cancer, Navratilova is dating former Miss Universe contestant Julia Lemigova, 36.
