Quarterback Marc Bulger will be landing on his feet with the Baltimore Ravens and is close to signing a one-year, $3.8 million contract with the team, a Ravens source confirmed to FanHouse.Bulger, 33, a two-time Pro Bowler and the 2004 Pro Bowl MVP during his 10 seasons with the St. Louis Rams, will join the team once he passes a physical. He is expected to compete for a backup role in Baltimore, along with Troy Smith and John Beck. Ravens coach John Harbaugh also hopes Bulger will play a mentor role to starter Joe Flacco.
The addition of Bulger likely means the end of Troy Smith's time with the Ravens. The backup quarterback has been lobbying for a trade.
Bulger missed half the 2009 season with a fractured shin and has seen his career derailed by serious injuries and the Rams' deteriorating offensive line.
