The Tampa Bay Lightning signed goaltender Dan Ellis to a two-year deal worth $3 million dollars on Thursday. Ellis had his rights traded to the Canadiens from the Predators earlier in the week, but a deal between Montreal and Ellis never came to fruition. The 30-year-old goaltender spent the last three seasons with the Nashville Predators. He was 15-13-1 with a 2.69 GAA in 28 starts with the Predators last season. He split time with Pekka Rinne in net before eventually losing the competition between the two.
Ellis had his best NHL campaign in 2007-08, compiling a record of 23-10-3 with a 2.34 GAA for Nashville.
Ellis has the potential to be a solid NHL goaltender. He brings top-notch leadership qualities to Tampa Bay.
