Wade, Bosh Met With Agent, Bulls Friday
It doesn't appear either member of the pair is preparing to enter negotiations with Chicago. The Bulls will meet with James this afternoon, after the two-time reigning MVP hears from his incumbent team, the Cavaliers. LeBron has already met with the Nets, Knicks, Heat and Clippers. New York and Los Angeles are considered to be out of the race.
If Wade and Bosh join Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah in Chicago, it won't matter where LeBron lands -- the Bulls would immediately become a top contender for the Eastern Conference crown. The Bulls have won the eighth seed in the East two consecutive seasons, and Wade (a former Finals MVP) and Bosh (a perennial All-Star) would be massive upgrades at their positions. The team also added coach Tom Thibodeau, whose reputation is miles beyond that of deposed boss Vinny Del Negro.
Reports suggest the Bulls could be prepared to sell LeBron on the idea of joining one or both of his free agent friends in Chicago, but it's unclear whether the team can give James an assurance either will be in place. Bosh continues to be wooed by Houston, New York (who is close to signing Amar'e Stoudemire) and Miami. Wade has always been considered to be likely to return to Miami. It's a tricky course the Bulls will be forced to manuever. But the prize at the end is so amazing it's worth all the stress it causes.
