Andres Iniesta scored the game-winning goal in the 116th minute to give Spain its first World Cup, a 1-0 defeat of Netherlands.
In a grind-it-out type of game -- with a World Cup-record 14 yellow cards dished out -- Iniesta's goal broke a scoreless tie and will surely be regarded as one of the greatest sporting moments in Spain's history.
Share To set up the goal, Cesc Fabregas found some space atop the Dutch penalty area and forced several defenders to collapse on him. He hit a wide open Iniesta on the right, who masterfully stroked the ball between the post and Dutch goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg.
Total pandemonium erupted from there, as Iniesta ran towards the sideline, shouting, taking off his shirt and being hounded by his Spanish teammates.
