The Los Angeles Kings have re-entered into negotiations with free agent winger Ilya Kovalchuk , a Kings source with knowledge of the talks told FanHouse on Sunday.

"We remain engaged," said the source, who is not authorized to speak publicly about the proceedings.

Kovalchuk will reportedly meet with Kings officials Monday to discuss a deal that would bring the most sought after free agent of the offseason to L.A."Ilya Kovalchuk is coming to Los Angeles for face-to-face discussions, just like any free agent would," general manager Dean Lombardi told TSN. "We are a long way from agreeing on a contract."

The latest comes after the Kings dropped out of negotiations twice since free agency began July 1. That appeared to leave the New Jersey Devils, who acquired Kovalchuk in a midseason deal from the Atlanta Thrashers, as the only suitor -- at least in North America. Various reports out of Russia have linked Kovalchuk to talks with a KHL team.
