(July 13) -- The Los Angeles-area house in which sex symbol Marilyn Monroe died of a probable suicide nearly a half-century ago could be yours for a mere $3.6 million.

The Los Angeles Times first reported that the house, in the ritzy Brentwood neighborhood near Beverly Hills, has gone on the market. The real estate agent's website, which doesn't mention the Monroe connection, describes the house as a "rare hidden jewel" with four bedrooms and three bathrooms in 2,624 square feet. And, of course, a swimming pool.

Marilyn Monroe was found dead of a drug overdose on August 5, 1962 in this Brentwood, California house.
Monroe was found dead there on Aug. 5, 1962, of an overdose of barbiturates. How she died -- by her own hand or murdered -- has been one of Hollywood's more enduring legends.

Her life also figures as one of Hollywood's most interesting, and most tragic. Raised in foster care, Monroe married for the first time when she was 16 and then was married twice more as an adult, to baseball great Joe DiMaggio and to author and playwright Arthur Miller. She also reportedly had an affair with Bobby Kennedy and delivered a classic rendition of "Happy Birthday" to his brother, the president.
