Jahvid BestThe Cut-N-Go is back to keep you up-to-date on all the NFL news that affects the upcoming fantasy football season.

According to The Detroit News' 10 Questions Entering Lions Camp article, football scribe Tim Twentyman posits that super-sleeper Jahvid Best will be used in a committee with Kevin Smith and will assume a Reggie Bush-type role in the offense.

"The Lions likely are going to run by committee this season and use Best in the Reggie Bush mode (some touches in between the tackles -- and he's busted a couple big runs during OTA; toss plays, screen passes and as a receiver).

Best has shown that when he gets in the open field, he's dangerous, and the Lions will try to get him in as many as those situations as they can."

Frankly, from a play-making perspective, the comparisons to Bush make a lot of sense, but more broadly, I disagree with the prognosis. Reggie Bush has always played alongside more reliable between-the-tackles runners in Pierre Thomas and Deuce McAllister. The Lions do have a quality back in Kevin Smith, but his health is far from certain and Maurice Morris looks to be on his way to the unemployment office.

Even if the Lions want to run Best out of a committee, they don't really have quality options to do so. Plus, this goes against just about every other report out of Detroit thus far, as most writers and analysts expect Best to assume the starting role from day one and handle a good bulk of the carries. Don't take this as a shot to Best's potential value just yet, as the coaching staff seems to really like the young rookie's performance thus far.

What else is going on around the league and in the fantasy football blogosphere?

• Speaking of rookies, the Bleacher Report's Erik Frenz profiles seven rookies who should make a significant impact in 2010. Has there ever been a season so clearly loaded with rookies in clear-cut top dog roles? Normally, I play the rookie game pretty close to the vest, but this season it feels like there's no avoiding taking at least one or two big gambles. In fact, I'd highly recommend running through a few mock drafts to get a true sense of where these youngsters fall before your real draft day.

• Dan Parr of Pro Football Weekly puts forth a strong case for why fantasy owners should temper expectations on Dolphins' stalwart running back Ronnie Brown.

• Another stalwart who seems to be flying far under the radar in terms of potential value is Clinton Portis. Sure, Portis comes off a tough season and a history of nagging injuries, but the Washington Post reports that Portis will hold on to the starting job. All signs point to a bounce-back season for Portis, and he's available on the cheap with an Average Draft Position currently at No. 108. Jump on him for a mid-to-late round sleeper.

• According to the ever-important news source that is Pete Carroll's Twitter feed (via Rotoworld), Julius Jones, Justin Forsett and Leon Washington are all in the running for the starting job. Unless a clear-cut leader emerges in the coming month or so, this reeks of fantasy disaster. Stay away!
