Hillary Rodham Clinton says she and former President Bill Clinton are very happy for the end-of-the-month wedding of their only child, Chelsea, though she knows they'll be emotional at the happy occasion.
"You should assume that if he makes it down the aisle in one piece, it's going to be a major accomplishment," the secretary of state said of the former president in an NBC interview. "He is going to be so emotional, as am I."
Though some tidbits have leaked out, the official wedding details are staying as classified as a state secret.
"My lips are sealed," said Clinton, who reportedly has titled herself MOTB (Mother of the Bride, in wedding lingo).
"I'm under very strict orders not to talk about it and I think for the right reasons," Clinton said in the NBC interview Sunday from Pakistan. The interviewed aired this morning on the "Today" show. "It is hers, and it's a family wedding. The people coming are her friends and people that have been meaningful in her life, as it should be."
Clinton's consolation to those still waiting for their invite: "We love you all, but this is her wedding."
The highly anticipated event, likened to a royal wedding, is reportedly being held at an up-state secluded property, Astor Courts, which was the former estate of tycoon John Jacob Astor.
Some of the big names invited to the big event, with a guest list said to be up to 500, are former Clinton campaign aides Terry McAuliffe and Harold Ickes, along with Steven Spielberg, Doris Kearns Goodwin and Ted Turner, according to a report in the Hudson Valley News.
Though she's traveling overseas and still has stops in Afghanistan and South Korea before the big day, the secretary of state has said the wedding is a top priority.
"It's a very happy time for my family. ... It truly is the most important thing in my life right now," Clinton said earlier this month, according to The Associated Press.
