The Stream Team picked up a win on Monday as Madison Bumgarner surrendered only one earned run in 5.2 innings of work. The win was our ninth in 16 tries this month, a very good ratio considering we only stream pitchers available in at least 60 percent of fantasy leagues. We took a bit of a gamble in Tuesday's game, and Dave Bush will try and make it pay off in Pittsburgh.Of the 30 pitchers scheduled to start on Wednesday, 21 are ineligible to be selected, as it promises to be a day dominated by good pitching. Out of the nine guys we can stream, there are still a few solid options. Jonathon Niese has four straight quality starts and heads to Arizona. Jason Hammel also has four straight quality starts, is coming off a ten-K game in Cincinnati, and faces Florida on the road. Brett Myers takes a 3.35 ERA into Chicago to face the Cubs. Gio Gonzalez has a 2.05 ERA over the last month and takes on a Boston team that's scored just 13 runs in five games since the All-Star break.
Any of those four guys could deliver a gem for you on Wednesday, but I'll take Jason Hammel. He's had nine starts since the beginning of June and posted quality starts in eight of them, including a sick run where he shut out three consecutive teams in Colorado. His one poor start only featured four runs allowed to Boston in four innings of work. Hammel entered June with a 6.93 ERA, and that number is down to 4.07 entering Wednesday. I think he'll keep the good times rolling against the Marlins.
