Cristiano Ronaldo is getting married -- at least, according to the Facebook status of his girlfriend and now soon-to-be wife, Irina Shayk.Shayk, a Russian model who has appeared in Sports Illustrated's swimsuit issue, let the world know on the social-networking site -- where else? -- on which she professed her love for the soccer star.
"I am committed Christian and the wedding will take place before Christmas," she wrote, according to Deadspin. "I love my boyfriend , I love my life and I love Portugal."
And why not?
The 24-year-old Shayk will tie the knot with the most expensive player in soccer history. That's a distinction Ronaldo earned last summer after being transferred from Manchester United to Real Madrid for approximately $132 million.
Ronaldo, 25, also is the captain of Portugal's national team and an international icon. It has been a busy few months in his personal life. The announcement of his upcoming wedding comes just weeks after he became a father, which he announced on his Twitter feed on July 3:
While Ronaldo has not revealed the identity of his son's mother -- granted, per the woman's request -- it's likely that will have no problem flaunting his marriage to the beautiful Shayk.
