Darrelle RevisIt's been more than a month since we delivered our first fantasy football 2010 rankings in mid-June, so we're bringing you a week of updated rankings. These may be your newest cheat sheets, but they won't be your last, so keep checking in with Fantasy FanHouse throughout the preseason.

While choosing a team defense undoubtedly represents a key decision for the fantasy roster, it's a "different strokes for different folks" game come draft day. Some fantasy owners prefer to grab their elite choices as early as the mid- to late-single-digit rounds, and others consider the team defense pick just slightly above (one round to be specific) that of the kicker.

In reality, the best approach falls somewhere in the middle of these two tactics. Fantasy defenses can, and will, win championships, but I would argue that no NFL team defense merits a true weekly start. Instead, I always recommend selecting a top-five defense that you feel generally comfortable starting most weeks, and then adamantly working the waiver wire for "spot start" matchups each week should they exist. We talk about these spot starts constantly, because they are an underused ticket to glory. By focusing on this approach -- grabbing one of the following elite teams for your starter and watching the waivers for occasional starters -- you provide your fantasy roster with a level of consistency not easily found elsewhere.
