Journalists Arrested Outside Estate Where Clinton May Wed
Two Norwegian journalists were charged with trespassing after they were caught taking photos of the Rhinebeck, N.Y., estate where Chelsea Clinton is expected to get married, The Associated Press reported.
"We did not realize it was forbidden to take the picture of the gate of the house where the Clinton wedding is to be," Helje Solberg, managing editor for the newspaper Verdens Gang, told the AP.
She said the newspaper's two journalists were not on the property Wednesday afternoon when they were arrested.
State Police Maj. Michael A. Kopy disagreed, saying "Anybody who is located on the grounds of the estate will be arrested and prosecuted," according to the AP.
Trespassing is a violation punishable by up to 15 days in jail and a $250 fine. Solberg said the paper would pay the fine -- even though "we see this as an overreaction."
Media reports say the wedding will take place Saturday, July 31, at Astor Courts in Rhinebeck. The daughter of former President Bill Clinton and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is marrying investment banker Marc Mezvinsky.
Some reports estimate that the wedding could cost $2 million, though the Clintons reportedly are trying to hold down costs.
