Ramon Sessions 'Ecstatic' About Trade to Cleveland, Says Agent

The agent for guard Ramon Sessions says his client is "ecstatic'' about going to Cleveland.

Chubby Wells said he got a call Monday night from Minnesota president David Kahn confirming his client is heading to Minnesota.

Sessions goes from the Timberwolves with center Ryan Hollins and a 2013 second-round pick to the Cavaliers for guards Delonte West and Sebastian Telfair. The News-Herald of suburban Cleveland had first reported trade specifics.

"I talked to Ramon and he's ecstatic,'' Wells said in an interview with FanHouse. "He's really, really excited about going to what he thinks is a good situation.''

Minnesota, which signed Sessions to a four-year, $16 million contract last summer as a free agent, was not a particularly good one for Sessions, a combo guard. He wasn't able to play effectively alongside point guard Jonny Flynn, and averaged 8.2 points and 3.1 assists over 21.1 minutes.

"I don't want to say anything bad about them,'' Wells said of the Timberwolves. "But it just wasn't a good fit. I'm happy they were able to move Ramon.''

The Timberwolves are expected to waive West, whose $4.6 million contract has just $500,000 of it guaranteed if he's let go by Aug. 5. West was arrested last September on six weapons charges in his home state of Maryland, including carrying a loaded shotgun on a motorcycle. He recently received his sentence, which includes eight months of home detention that started Monday on his 27th birthday.

Sources had told FanHouse early last week that the Timberwolves were considering trading for West due to the relief his contract can provide. Sources had told FanHouse late last week that Hollins, who averaged 6.1 points and 2.8 rebounds last season, was on the trade block.

With Hollins out of the picture, sources said the Timberwolves will take a hard look at possibly signing free-agent forward Anthony Tolliver, who averaged 12.3 points and 7.3 rebounds last season for Golden State. The other primary suitors for Tolliver are the Warriors and Dallas.

Wells expects Sessions to be able to play alongside Cleveland point guard Mo Williams. But Wells said Sessions hasn't put a great deal of emphasis on whether or not he starts.

"He's really good friends with Mo,'' Wells said. "He can definitely play well alongside him ... I think it's a great move. (Sessions will) be a really good fit in Cleveland.''
