Steve Yzerman continued his impressive summer of rebuilding the Tampa Bay Lightning by signing veteran center Dominic Moore to a two-year contract on Friday. The Lightning will be Moore's eighth team in his seven-year career (he's also spent time with New York, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Buffalo, Minnesota, Florida and Montreal) and is coming off a season that saw him score 10 goals to go with 18 assists split between Florida and Montreal.

After signing with the Panthers as a free agent in the offseason, he was part of a mid-season trade that sent him to the Canadiens in exchange for a second-round pick. In Montreal he proved to be a useful role player during its run to the Eastern Conference Final. He scored four goals in the playoffs, including the game-winner during their Game 7 win in Washington. Two years ago he recorded a career-high 45 points with Buffalo and Toronto.

He's going to give the Lightning a nice third-line center -- and some impressive depth down the middle -- playing behind Steven Stamkos and Vincent Lecavalier, as well as a strong penalty killing presence. He's also an excellent face-off man, having won over 54 percent of his draws the past two seasons. The Lightning were already one of the better face-off teams in the league last season, but were just 22nd when it came to shorthanded situations.

Moore is just the latest addition to Tampa Bay's re-tooled roster, as Yzerman has already accomplished the following this summer: traded Andrej Mezsaros to Philadelphia for a second-round pick; signed free agents Moore, Dan Ellis, Pavel Kubina and Brett Clark; traded for talented winger Simon Gagne (while giving up next-to-nothing in return) and signed Martin St. Louis to a four-year contract extension.

Still have to wait and see how they look on the ice, but on paper this is a much-improved team.
