Needless to say, with Brett Favre "de-tiring" for approximately the 10,000th time this week, the media is pretty saturated with Favre-centric stories. That's probably how Favre likes it ... except for the fact that one story, which popped up on Deadspin today, alleges that he sent Jenn Sterger pictures of his genitals.
AJ Daulerio, editor of Deadspin, doesn't have the pictures in his possession at the moment, putting them firmly in the "alleged" category, but the (also technically alleged) correspondence between he and Sterger is, as Daulerio put it, "enough to get this started."
This, naturally, equates to a bit of a nightmare for Favre. He's currently in the middle of his annual will-he/won't-he retire press party, and the entirety of the sports media's attention is focused on him.
That makes the timing for Deadspin's publication ideal (for them) and disastrous (for Favre). If these photos ever surface -- and that seems unlikely given that Daulerio published the story without Sterger's full permission -- and proof of them being from Favre to a woman other than his wife is established, things will be incredibly awkward.
As it is, we'll just have to stick with "mildly awkward" -- the suggestion there being that 1) Deanna Favre will most certainly have some questions for her husband about said alleged photos and 2) the saying "where there's smoke there's fire" exists for a reason. And when TMZ smells smoke it can usually find the heat that caused it.
