Quinn Pitcock Returning to NFL From Video-Game Addiction
But he stunned everyone in 2008 by announcing that he was retiring at the ripe old age of 24. Now two years later Pitcock is making a comeback with the Seahawks, and he's explaining why he walked away.
Pitcock battled depression which manifested itself in playing video games. So the more depressed he got, the more Pitcock wanted to stay in his house and live through his computer. Eventually he decided he couldn't play anymore, partly because he had figured he wasn't good enough.
It may seem funny to think that an NFL player could give away his career to play Madden at home (or World of Warcraft), but depression manifests itself in may different ways. If Pitcock has gotten his depression under control, the Seahawks could land a nice steal here -- a solid big body who was available at a bargain rate.
