(Aug. 10) -- The fight against a proposed Islamic center slated to be built just blocks from the site of the 9/11 attacks in lower Manhattan is about to go on the move.

According to the New York Post, New York's Metropolitan Transportation Authority approved a new ad by American Freedom Defense Initiative, a New Hampshire-based group that opposes construction of Cordoba House, aka "the ground zero mosque" as opponents of the project have taken to calling it.

On the far left side of the rectangular ad (which can be seen at Advertising Age), the World Trade Center is shown in flames just before a second hijacked jet prepares to slam into the buildings. On the right side is a rendering of a similarly boxy Cordoba House, complete with a star and crescent adornment. Separating the two structures is a two-headed arrow meant to highlight the relatively small distance between the destroyed towers and the proposed development, along with text that reads "Why There?"

The planned Islamic center -- part of a larger complex now being marketed as Park51 -- has proven the topic of fierce debate in New York and around the country, with politicians and pundits weighing in from across the political spectrum about whether the project should go forward. Today, New York Gov. David Paterson became the latest official to register an opinion, floating an offer to the community center developers of state-owned property in a location further away from the former World Trade Center site, The New York Times reported.
