Greg McGarity will become Georgia's next athletic director, according to multiple reports.McGarity will be named to replace Damon Evans, who resigned last month after a June 30 drunken driving arrest, a source told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because no official announcement has been made.
McGarity is the associate athletic director at Florida, where he has worked since 1992. He is an Athens native and graduate of Georgia, so he was seen right away as being one of the favorites to take over when Evans resigned under pressure, less than a week after a late-night DUI arrest in which he was with a female passenger who wasn't his wife.
The hiring of McGarity was first reported by WSB-TV in Atlanta.
Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
