From adorable baby elephants to creepy, but still kind of cute, two-headed snakes, animals certainly get lots of news coverage.
Especially when they do wacky things.
Like a cheeky chipmunk trying to munch on a peanut that's bigger than its head, a disoriented black bear with its head stuck in a milk jug or a boozed-up lorikeet that's flapping drunk after eating fermented fruit.
But people also love animals with skills, like Tillman the skateboarding bulldog who wowed puppy lovers and skaters alike with his passion for tricks.
Even the animal kingdom caught World Cup fever this summer, with both penguins and roosters trying their webbed feet at soccer.
And, of course, there was Paul the Psychic Octopus, who emerged as the global tournament's biggest star after he accurately predicted the winners of eight straight matches.
Although the oracular octopus became a hero in championship-winning Spain, he received death threats from disgruntled fans in Argentina and was condemned as a symbol of "Western propaganda" by the president of Iran. Paul's handlers said the clairvoyant Cephalopod would make no further predictions.
